Ventro Ditches Half Of Staff, Closes Marketplaces

Ventro, which had been held up as a shining example of a successful B2B play when they went public is now in serious trouble. They’re laying off nearly half their staff and shutting down two of their marketplaces. One of the marketplaces being shutdown is Chemdex, which was their original name, and the “shining example of success” I was talking about. How quickly things change.
