New Network Links Libraries To Answer Reference Questions

from the cool dept

A bunch of public and private libraries from around the world have developed a new free service for asking reference questions. I think this is a great idea. While there is now a ton of information out there at our fingertips, finding what you need is still a skill that many people don’t posess. I’ve always thought that some people are just better than others at hunting down info, and reference librarians often seem particularly good at it (as they should be). There used to be (a few years ago) a company called Human Search that essentially did the same thing, but they just employed a bunch of college kids to hunt the info down for you (with a fairly low success rate).
