Technology Is Gay?

from the statistics dept

A somewhat amusing article about a study that shows the best correlation for determing what area is a “high tech center” is the number of gay residents in that city. Most people are baffled by the study, though a few gay commentators have their suggestions as to why it could be true. My guess is that there’s no cause-and-effect relationship going on here, but rather a coincidence of locations. It seems like a few areas (SF in particular) would skew the numbers to make the data make sense.
