Kelly McNeill writes “Is the rumor credible? A couple years ago, I would have dismissed it out of hand. The G3 easily outperformed the Alpha back then. Apple’s future is not based on a specific hardware. There are rumors of using Transmeta chips, too. So it looks like the whole reason behind OS X is its portability. I think it’s actually quite ingenius. You’ve gotta wonder if M$ will follow suit.

Ive got a 500MHZ Powerbook and MacOSX beta is almost unacceptably slow. I’m not sure that I like it… and I really want to.
