The Government's Laptop Problem

from the security-breaches-galore dept

It seems that many US Government agencies have different regulations when it comes to security on classified electronic documents. One thing that they all have in common, though, is that many people ignore those regulations. The main culprit seems to be laptop computers. Workers routinely take classified documents on airplanes and home with them, or leave hard drives on their desks (instead of safes). Some people have been severely disciplined, but it sounds like just about everyone is guilty of some infraction. It’s great to see people take national security so seriously.
