The Gnutella Paradox

from the it's-all-doom-and-gloom-from-here dept

An interesting (and long) article about Gnutella’s prospects. While many people who keep saying “there’s always Gnutella” if Napster goes down, this article points out why that might not be true. It suggests many reasons why Gnutella’s own success may destroy it. The article definitely makes some good points. However, the technology world has a funny way of adapting to problems. I think the Salon story is definitely a worst case scenario for what could happen to Gnutella, but I’d say it’s unlikely. Even if it does happen, something else will come in to fill the void.
