Napster Stops Infringing T-Shirt Sales

from the questionable dept

Napster’s lawyers have apparently stopped a father and son team from selling Napster related t-shirts. They were doing so to build up support for the company. However, Napster is claiming trademark infringement. The father and son aren’t angry. While it probably does look bad for Napster to be doing this, it is a little different. This was a situation where these people were trying to make money by selling Napster intellectual property. Napster doesn’t illegally sell songs. They just give them away. Yes, there’s a distinction. However, it probably would have made a lot more sense for Napster to figure out a better way to handle this because lots of folks will use this as an example of how Napster is a hypocritical company.
