HP to Buy PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting Arm
from the service-business dept
In what would be a pretty damn big deal, HP is reportedly in talks to buy the consulting arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. It’s a little surprising, to me, as I can see why it makes sense for HP, but not necessarily for PwC. While it would increase HP’s services capabilities (by a lot), it makes the former PwC consultants a lot less independent (obviously) and focused only on providing HP solutions. I would think this would make them lose some customers.

Independence
Alot of fuss has been raised over auditor independence. Possbly this is a baby step towards PWC dumping more of their non auditor functions. So that you can once again assume that their interests are not pulled in multiple directions.
