The Running Man – Updated for the Web and Reality TV
from the make-it-stop...-please! dept
Will this ever stop? The latest in “reality TV” style programming is “Reality Run” which seems like it’s just a bad update on the horrible Arnold movie of the 80’s: The Running Man. In Reality Run, there’s is a “fugitive” who must run around Berlin for 24 days without getting caught. However, he has certain tasks to perform each day and must take photographs that are posted to the net. Viewers on the website can then email in suggestions on where the guy is and how to catch him. If the pursuer finds the runner using a tip, the tipster will get $10,000. It seems like each week we can announce that we’ve “reached a new low in reality programming”. What’s up for next week?

This is not a new theme
UK television screened a (nearly) identical show several years ago. The contestants had tasks to achieve each week, and mailed video tapes of themselves to the TV studio every day.
The same tipster idea was there as well.
