Ego Surfing

from the how-important-are-you dept

I first heard the term “ego surfing” (referring to the practice of going to a search engine and searching on your own name to see how “famous” you are) a few years ago, and every once in a while practice a little. Though, I spend more time searching to see who’s linked to Techdirt (now that can be interesting) instead of where I’m mentioned, it is fun. I hadn’t realized, however, that it was such a popular practice to have an article written about it or a special egosurf.com website devoted to it. I just tried EgoSurf.com and it says it’s down for repairs, but I’ll try again later.
