Creating a Virtual Plant

from the now-this-would-be-an-advance dept

The 2010 project aims to identify and model all the proteins and genes within a small, simple plant called Arabidopsis to create a virtual plant. This a lofty goal but if they are successful it’ll be a lot more of an advance than just reading the genome. With all the recent hype about the human genome being sequenced soon, people seem to have forgotten that sequencing doesn’t mean that much unless you understand what each gene does. So until we get the virtual human project, I guess I’ll just have to get hyped about a little plant (maybe not!).
