Year2000.com $10 Million Bid a Hoax

from the but-idiots-are-still-paying-$2-million dept

As predicted here the $10 million eBay bid for the domain Year2000.com was very much a hoax. In fact, the top 3 bids all turned out to be a hoax. But, someone did make a legitimate bid of $2 million for the domain, which still strikes me as a completely ridiculous price. I’m not sure what they plan to do with the domain, but I have a hard time believing it can be worth anything in that range at all. Update: Now it appears that the company has decided not to accept that $2 million bid, and instead attempt a private sale of the domain.
