Repair Firm Keeping Laptops
from the be-careful-where-you-send-your-laptop-for-repairs dept
Definitely not the best way to get public support on your side: A company that repairs laptops for NEC, as well as a number of other companies, has decided to confiscate a large number of laptops it was repairing, due to a billing problem between it and NEC, which has nothing to do with the laptops in question. The consumers whose laptops have been taken are apparently out of luck in getting their machines back. Hmm… to some extent, couldn’t that be considered theft?

I was thinking of the low-tech analogue of one’s car being kept at the service center because the dealer was in a fight with the OEM and that reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where Putty confiscates Jerry’s BMW because he isn’t taking proper care of it “you don’t deserve this car”…
Sorry, just thought it might induce a chuckle!
