NASA to get into the Flying Car Business
from the more-flying-cars dept
It seems that scientists from NASA have agreed to help a guy who has created plans for a flying car. Once again, this is a toy I’d like to have, so I’m glad that it’s getting a boost. Plus, it’s good to see that folks from NASA think it’s a real possibility, rather than the ravings of a mad scientist.

NASA to support Flying car movement
NASA has a program called USATS (Urban Small Aircraft Transportation Systems) which does currently fund “Aircar” development. Several small companies have recently been or are curently being funded under NASA’s small business inititive research (SBIR) grants. I just submitted a story to techdirt regarding flying cars and the many related articles and web links.
I wish to submit my Power Point presentation for viewing. Although, I need to get it on the web for all to see. I will send it to you in an attachment if you give me an e-mail address to send it to.
Thanks,

Re: NASA to support Flying car movement
I agree that it’s high time we, got off our proverbial asses and pushed the development of a flying car. I have ideas myself but i’m always searching for more relevant information. On the standpoint of safety, efficiency, and vehicle flexibility we have no choice. 85% of a cars energy is wasted in it’s chassis, wheels and brakes. So far one of the most promising ideas is the Avrocar variation from the 50’s.
Thank you for you time Aaron

Dear Stephen,
I am interested in “cars without tires” and would like to see your ppt presentation.
I have designed an advanced carsharing system and am looking for specialty vehicles to run on my network, which I intend to build in California.

flying car
I would like an opportunity to discuss a well thought out design that I have put together. It would run by using one small electric engine for highway then switch to the larger electric propeller engine for its flying ability. Both engines will use the same self contained energy production unit. Another great feature is it’s ability to land on or take off from water. If it’s land, air or sea you can get there in your flying car and leave the fuel behind. This is no joke and I am perfectly serious.
