Lawyers Going to Startups

Apparently, many startup lawyers are leaving big firms to go work directly for their clients. I can see how this might pay off big, but the fact is that most lawyers get a pretty good stake in the companies they help (creating a diverse portfolio) and still charge ridiculous amounts. Seems like the better deal might be to just stay.
