American Express Launches New Internet Charge Card
from the more-ways-to-buy-buy-buy dept
American Express is launching a new internet charge card complete with funky blue color and embedded computer chip. Apparently, if you sign up, you get a free charge card reader that attaches to your computer, and which you can then use to make purchases online. Interesting concept. If it takes off it could be something big. If not, there could be a whole bunch of useless charge card readers sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

Every reader sitting in a warehouse is 1000+ banners they otherwise would have bought in the great “teaser surfing” credit card deal era we’re in. If I see another NextCard or Aria banner….
Gratuitous Smartchip use
Ummm… now why do I need this smartchip thingy if most of the merchants I deal with over the web store my CC info for me?
Neat looking card though.
