Nokia is developing a device that can receive web pages through the broadcast TV spectrum. How it works: web pages are “encoded” for TV transmission (at a minimum that involves splitting the image in half in odd lines/even lines), broadcast over the TV RF spectrum, then the new MediaScreen device “decodes” the images to display on a 12″ screen. Interesting, though hard to see how they can avoid the “many users, one pipe” problem that plagues DirectPC users unless the encoding includes compression.
