ISP Scam

from the more-ways-to-get-at-your-money dept

Another type of ISP scam is apparently going on these days. Actually, this doesn’t strike me as particularly new, but maybe just happening more frequently. Basically the scammer sets up a fake website with a domain name similar to the ISPs, and then sends out email to the ISP’s customers saying they hadn’t paid the latest bill and directing them to the web site. Of course, at that point they’re instructed to enter the credit card number. I would definitely be wary of having to be asked a second time for my credit card, but I’m sure it’s enough to fool a lot of people.
