The Internet Sector
from the silly-media dept
There’s an article today about Ariba’s IPO, which is used to discuss the idea that Internet IPO’s “have a chance”. This is ridiculous. The reason Ariba had a good IPO shouldn’t be that it is “an internet company” and thus it should influence the very general “internet companies”. It’s because they have a good business model in an intriguing space: business to business e-commerce. The whole concept of the “Internet Sector” bugs me, because it is way too broad and leading many people to make false assumptions when investing. People need to (and will!) focus on the company and not the fact that it has a .com.
