Do We Want Dinosaurs In Charge Of Evolution?
from the great-quote dept
The Associated Press has a summary of some panel discussions going on, where they quote Fred von Lohmann of the EFF as saying that approving the Hollings "broadcast flag" legislation would be like "putting the dinosaurs in charge of evolution". The music industry, of course, responded that they're not trying to disable fair use rights - they're just trying to stop pirates. Of course, what will happen is that the pirates will figure out a way around the protections, while the fair use rights get stomped out. A solution that will please no one.
