Did Einstein Test Hot Stove/Pretty Girl Hypothesis?
from the interesting-pickup-line... dept
Albert Einstein apparently once uttered “When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it’s longer than any hour. That’s relativity.” This was one attempt to explain relativity to the layperson. However, being a scientific minded guy, he apparently (according to Scientific American – and, yes, my first thought was to check to see if we were anywhere near April 1) decided to test that hypothesis by sitting on a hot stove until it “felt” like an hour, as well as talking with a pretty girl until it felt like a minute. Whether or not the story is true, it’s pretty damn funny. I wonder if this works as a pickup line for pretty women… “Hey, baby, want to prove Einstein’s theory of relativity with me?” Hmm. Nah, probably not.

Ummm, it may not be April 1, but this is obviously
Note that the author of the article even went as far as informing the reader that the “journal” that published this “paper”, the Journal of Exothermic Science and Technology, is abbreviated as “JEST”.

Aha! Excellent point. I knew it had to be a joke, but I couldn’t figure out why… Good catch.
