Gary Brown writes “Here’s an animated article running that shows how the Stirling engine really works. Stirling engines are used only in some very specialized applications, like in submarines or auxiliary power generators for yachts, where quiet operation is important. And, evidently, Dean Kamen and his researchers have identified a mystery application for the Stirling engine that they think is going to change the world. We’ll have to wait and see about that one.”
