Companies Raising Over $100 Million In Venture Funding

from the these-days? dept

With all the talk about how difficult it is to raise venture capital money these days, seven companies managed to raise over $100 million in their last rounds. Of course, with most of these they had to scale back their plans, as it was clear that this was the last venture money they were going to get – even if they had plans that required more. I guess with venture capitalists having large funds on their hands, they figured it’s worth taking just a few big bets, even in down times. I have to admit that I still don’t understand PacketVideo (one of the lucky 7) – who apparently wants to do streaming video to mobile phones. I’m definitely a gadget fan, and I’ll buy stuff for the “cool factor”, but streaming video on my mobile phone has no interest to me.
