Spy satellites can actually lower defense spending, by showing that there?s nothing to worry about from potential adversaries.
Definitely true that NASA?s budget needs a huge increase, though. One survey suggested that people think NASA gets 20% of the federal budget, when it actually gets around 0.5% ? down from a peak of over 4% during the Apollo program? Doubling it doesn?t seem unreasonable with that perspective.
From my understanding, while fake towns do exist, fake dead-end streets are more common so that nobody will be inconvenienced.

Looks like a confirmation hearing?s being held June 6 at 10:00 AM:
Now please release the complete Nelvana Ewoks and Droids cartoons on DVD or Blu-ray.
I?ve never quite understood why everybody seems to think gaming takes a lot of bandwidth. Your average online game doesn?t saturate ISDN.
What will use 5GB, fast, is watching HD video at ~1GB/hour.
AFAIK, they?re just seeing that you?re using the separate default tethering APN. So you can use an app that implements tethering on its own, rather than through the default API (PdaNet is apparently popular).
Isn?t AVCHD essentially Blu-ray with simpler (non-Java) menus and no DRM?
It would have the advantage of being compatible with many (most?) Blu-ray players from the start.
Well, for starters, you?ve got 99 year leases (at least traditionally). Then there are rules against perpetuities (21 years in the UK, usually 90 in the US).
If anybody?s interested in more about our return to beyond low earth orbit, I highly recommend this site: http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/news/constellation/
Hey, don?t perpetuate the stereotype that all remakes are bad. The first film that comes to mind was the 2008 version of The Andromeda Strain from A&E, which was quite good (although if it was based more on the book rather than the first film, it might not count). For the sake of brevity, I?ll restrict myself to a particular genre for the rest of my examples: The remakes of The Thomas Crown Affair, Ocean?s 11 and The Italian Job were all, if anything, better than the originals in my opinion.
To be sure, some films (I?m thinking of you, WarGames: The Dead Code) can just never live up to the originals. But some most certainly do.

Re: Monopoly
There are no more legal monopolies. However, there?s so little profit in laying a second set of lines just to get half of a town?s customers that nobody bothers anyway.
The FCC tried requiring ISPs to lease their lines at reasonable rates, but gave up when they realized how difficult it was to enforce.
Personally, I think the solution may be to divest all the major ISPs of their lines (possibly allowing them to retain ownership of the spinoff via non-voting preferred stock or an equivalent structure).
