"Abductive reasoning" means that I assume there was a rain overnight when I see wet pavement in the morning. I may be wrong though and it was a mobile fish tank accident. Similarly, I may be wrong thinking that there is no such thing as de-facto board of directors when I see at least three corporations registered by the same two people at the same suite of a corporate rental building.
I first erroneously read "eight wives" instead of "eight children" - likely because I encountered a mention of Brigham Young earlier in the text, which put my thinking on the wrong track.
...and Sargsyan is connected to very dangerous people. I don't want to dive into this rabbit hole, so I just leave it here: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/4059868-Sargsyan-declaration.html (Note that Colette is in the list of defendants) Story: https://www.sltrib.com/news/politics/2018/09/10/strange-winding-fraud/
I tweeted earlier today:
Anyway, it is a real treat to watch vermin eat each other. A just outcome would be Hunter and Cook losing their investments while bankrupting Fields.
Here is one of the investors to the scam:
Joshua possess a passion for his work and feels like he was born to do the what he does. He has a love of people and has served in many church and civic positions giving back to the community where he resides. In light of his many successes, he feels his greatest work to date is the family he created with his beloved wife Rebecca. Together they share in the joy of raising their eight children and the adventure it brings. He enjoys traveling, backpacking, fishing, skiing, surfing, golf and getting away as often as he can with his family. His life is built upon the foundational principles of integrity, kindness, hard work, and a love of God and family.
Well, it's not my job to reconcile "love of God and family" with investing in predatory lawsuits based on "barely legal" porn.
Did Seagal say it before or after becoming a citizen of the Russian Federation?
A small correction: Judge Ungaro is not "another one" but the original judge who ruled that IP address is not a person 5 years ago. She has been consistent since.
In the wake of Godwin’s murder, I recommended that Facebook Live broadcasts be time-delayed
In Soviet Union, "live" TV broadcasts were time-delayed. If it was a failed space rocket launch, the public didn't need to know it - at all. If it was a national address by a senile, sedated leader and he would fart or, worse, drop dead in the middle of that - it would be something that never happens in the Country of Well-Developed Socialism: Soviet leaders were supposed to die in hospital.
Thank you, professor Grygiel, for your novel idea.
Does anyone here remember Evan Stone, a proto- copyright troll? This was literally his argument (and it was widely mocked back in 2011):
They don't want their subscribers to think that they can get sued, because how many people are still gonna pay 53 bucks a month for broadband if they know they're restricted to 100% legitimate activity? That's kind of how I look at it. I mean, most people will. I think roughly 5-10% of their users would say "look, if I can't pirate movies and music, there's no way I'm going to pay fifty bucks." They don't want to lose customers, they don't want their customers sued.
Thank you, Mike.
"Speedy trial." "Clean clothes."
You are either woefully ignorant, disingenuous, or, likely, both.
My favorite footnote in that order is the footnote #1.
Did you just invent victim shaming out of victim blaming ("It was your fault!") and slut shaming ("You deserved it!"). Notwithstanding those concepts are overused today and mostly used as a catch-all "defense" against any criticism of poor judgment, there is nothing even remotely applicable here.
Have you ever visited a web page that hosts unauthorized images? Of course you have. Do you know that every time you visit a page your browser creates a copy?
So, a copyright infringement, however unintentional, was committed. I think you should pay the maximum damages, $30,000. Per instance.
Why? I see a potential dodge for pirates: "I just clicked the link!"
Since copyright infringement is the biggest of all crimes, punishing you has more societal value than your property.
His internet connection is used to pirateHow do you know that?
In case you are not disgusted enough. Crowell initially tried to extort the landlord, Donna Violette, who had multiple tenants (one, who is the subject of this story, was later named as the defendant). Here is from her sworn declaration (emphasis added):
- In January or February 2017, I received a letter and legal documents from Mr. Crowell alleging that copyrighted films had been downloaded using my Internet, and that there would be a lawsuit against me with potential fines in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The letter also references possible prison time.
and
- Mr. Crowell also made it clear that the computer activity through my ISP address included the viewing of pornography. Given that Mr. Crowell identified that he represented the owners of a movie, I found it troubling and coercive that Mr. Crowell began speaking to me about pornography that was no of his or his alleged clients’ business. Suddenly, I was envisoning my tenants watching pornography. Mr. Crowell’s accusations about me or my tenants viewing pornography about which he has no legal interest were an unwelcome intrusion.
Was not a bit surprised to discover Voltage Pictures in the list of the Creative Future's members. Voltage Pictures, an infamous copyright troll that steals from actual creators.
