Did he request a refund? This seems kind of absurd to me. At what point did the AP decide that this was a good idea?
Is it just me or does it seem that the AP doesn't even realize that they are quickly becoming the RIAA of the News Industry?
I doubt they would see that as a bad thing in light of the last few rulings in favor of the RIAA.
"this is likely to have the undesired consequence of reinforcing an all-too-common attitude among open source developers: that nontechnical users can be rudely dismissed when they report problems or request assistance, and should learn how to program or buzz off."
I am not sure which open source projects you are following, but I have never had this problem or witnessed it. Most programmers I know working on FLOSS will take the time out of their day to help if you have a real problem. Maybe you just need to lighten and remember that not everyone who can program is out to spite you.
Actually, that article seemed fairly evenhanded and the end they pretty much said that the whole case could be thrown out if the dormmate is just saying this to get back at the "hacker" this whole story is retarded. Though now every time I go to Boston i am going to Boot my Arch netbook to command line just to spite the bastards.
While I agree, Cust. service is not stellar, the customers that walk into a Fry's are not exactly the bright bulbs in the world either. I work in Customer Service in the Tempe, Arizona branch and the customers I got on a daily basis were as stupid as they come. Now, most of the policies there were retared as well (repackageing returned items as new) and the employees were only smarter the customers in how to steal money, but on a whole i liked the store. If you knew what you wanted and avoided sales people like the plague, it was actually an enjoyable experience, even before I started working there. And on another note, my local best buys wouldn't know customer service if it bit them on the ass.
Re:
Drive by degree's? We have a "University" near by that has the same reputation. I know anyone in the local tech business has no job opportunities if they receive a tech degree from said school.
