"At the risk of a bad analogy, if some news organization ran the headline "Chris Christie shuts down traffic on GW Bridge" and the story was about how somebody who isn't Chris Christie shut down the GW Bridge, would you think that was no problem that the headline describes something that didn't actually happen, because all the right info is in the story?"
I think the proper analogy would be the headline reading "Traffic shuts down NJ bridge" and you wanting it to say that Chris Christie was responsible. You wouldn't be wrong, but it'd still be silly....
"We haven't even got the usual trolls bleating about "anomalies" or calling the author a liar yet. That just strikes me as interesting."
I call this a personal victory....
"You don't see the issue?"
Well, no, I don't, but then again I'm not the type to get a full head of steam over a headline that might have confused 2% of the population before they bothered to read a couple lines of the post....
Here's when I know I'm doing it right: conservatives tell me I'm a conservative-hating liberal communist and liberals whine about how much I bash their side without ever bashing conservatives.
In this politically idiotic country, if everyone's pissed off at me, I'm doing it right....
As someone who most closely resembles a socialist, I'm thoroughly perplexed....
Nah, the real goal is to entertain myself and you folks, in which case some humorous insults are my chief ammunition :)
"Even though I do not agree with Tim on this specific subject I can say that its take down benefits the believers more than the deniers despite initial indications."
Thanks for disagreeing in a reasonable way and actually finding some common ground on not wanting to censor shit. Nice to see someone who I disagree with do it civilly and actually read the god damned motherfucking post and comment on that rather than a larger debate I never opened, and in fact said we should be having elsewhere.
So my argument is invalid unless I've personally experienced abuse? Your logical fallacy is showing, my friend...
But our Google masters actually work for the CIA lizard people. WE'VE GOT YOU ALL NOW!!!!111!!!
You're correct that I've never been afforded the experience of this kind of abuse and if I came off as insensitive, that certainly wasn't my intent. I'm also well aware of the potential for a Stockholm Syndrome like reaction, but I don't believe any of my former Psych profs would suggest that it occurs at the levels described by these statistics.
I don't think suggesting that conditioning in the form of acceptance of surveillance will breed victims more willing to be spied upon is controversial and I'm a bit surprised you chose to jump down my throat about it....
You have a fair point in here, but you're wrong, and it's my fault you're wrong.
"Why pay for what you aren't getting? Better, why pay at all for inadequate service?"
This is NOT the problem. I can see I didn't make this clear in the article, but I LOVE my MLB.TV subscription. While I desperately want to be able to watch my Cubs, I will watch baseball anytime, anywhere, between any two teams, and my subscription lets me do that as long as one of the two Chicago teams or the Milwaukee team is involved.
Sorry that wasn't clear, but I definitely get my money's worth with the MLB subscription, I just think they could do better business freeing up the local product.
Oh, yes they would. In that case, the mark would be purely descriptive, which is something that was never raised in the USPTO's decision, so the the mark only applying to red-skinned potatoes is highly unlikely....
There are two students' stories in this, the first is a young girl covered in Other-Tim's original article (linked in the opening) while the article I found for this piece mentioned a second student having just been victimized....
"Be sure to send some thanks to the vaccine makers
For if they were not adding Mercury as a way to extend shelf life and act as a way to allow multi-shot vials then no one would have to complain about the Mercury in the shots."
God damn it, mercury levels in vaccinations have been REDUCED in the past few decades, not increased. Why are you people so fucking insane?
On top of that, the vaccines in question (measles, mumps) DO NOT CONTAIN FUCKING MERCURY IN THE FORM OF THIMEROSAL.

THEY HAVE THEIR OWN COUNTRY NOW?!?!?! OOTB WAS RIGHT! AHHHHHHHHH!!
I mean, it's like they created an app just for me....
Just to clarify, the naming of the Blackhawks is barely related to native americans at all. They were actually named after the local Blackhawk armory here in Illinois.
Re: Re: Title
I agree, it's a better headline. Can't believe that became the theme of this thread, but if it makes everyone happy....
