You elected to give a billionaire foreign national unlimited access to the personal information (Name, address, SSN, bank info) of millions of Americans? Not just federal employees, regular citizens.
If they get Freelancer on there, I'll buy it without hesitation. It's one of my favorites, and sadly I never got a chance to buy it when it was still being sold (poor student then). Tomb Raider on the other hand, I've repurchased probably 3 or 4 times by now. That's what happens when you continue to sell/release games, publishers. ;-) When they put up a bunch of classic Star Trek games, I bought every single one of them. Armada was another classic I played as a kid. Well, I played hundreds of hours with the two mission demo that came with a gaming magazine CD. I'm still hoping they'll get the other Star Trek games from that era (Birth of the Federation, New Worlds, Orion Pirates).
Forgot to add: What I mean by the cult is that people see the good he says, and what he says is so good to them, they look past the bad, or choose to believe they're lies.
I've noticed that Trumpism is a cult. Once you've drank the kool-aid, it's very difficult to break free. Trump is a salesman and con-man, and he sold the American people a very good con.
Because at the time I called, the staffer told me they weren't even aware of most of what I told them. Perhaps that's changed in the last couple days.
If you look at /r/fednews, you can see how bad it is. Musk's system at OPM was a linkage, it actually placed all government employee emails on a cloud server. Completely exposed both the network, and email distribution lists to the public. Every single NOAA employee has been getting spammed because of Musk's ineptitude. 30% of federal employees are military veterans, vets who are about to get even more screwed aside from what's happening at the VA. If you care, call your congresspeople. The democrats in congress are only dealing with the funding freeze, which is the least problematic issue that's happened. There are career civil servants being told to execute illegal orders, then fired if they refuse to break the law. For all the Trump supporters that wanted this, you will reap what you sow. Think of everything you rely on, social security, VA benefits, national parks, not having your city/town flood because a reservoir holds back the water, the highway system, looking at weather forecasts on the news, getting a passport, and dozens of other things from large to seemingly innocuous. Now, imagine if all that was gone. Not all states have the ability to support themselves. California will do fine; Alabama, not so much.
Cops are immune from that law because they are "trained" accordingly.
Honestly, I don't buy the argument it's a freedom of speech issue. In addition, I don't think it goes far enough. China has shown time and again it can't be trusted. Plus, state media likes the "tiktok refugees" going to rednote: https://yro.slashdot.org/story/25/01/19/0016233/on-eve-of-tiktok-ban-chinese-app-rednote-surges-in-popularity-delighting-chinese-state-media Cybersec ops are strong with the CCP.
Is there a way to opt-out? What happens if parents refuse to agree to those terms? I'd rather give my kid their own laptop to do schoolwork on than use a legal spying device.
I could see them doing this to reduce damages if they end up being found guilty. You know, "pay $xx for every day/copy sold that you infringed." Doesn't mean they wouldn't add it back if they won, just trying to reduce damages if they lose.
Only a baby throws a temper tantrum after he got what he wanted... and not even then sometimes.
If “understanding” them means becoming like Trump, I’d rather lose. And that's why we're in the predicament we're in. I never said you had to become like him. I'm talking about learning the heart of the issues on the other side. Attacking the people (as opposed to the politicians) doesn't help anyone. Immigration: The issue as I see it is there is far too much immigration allowed. Sure, I have no doubt there's racism behind that, but what is clear is that the immigration level has significantly increased in the last 10 or so years. I've seen it in my own neighborhood. We also have a housing problem. I don't think we'd have as much of a housing problem if we had the same level of immigration we had 10+ years ago. Housing problems means more large parcel land is taken effectively by force (eminent domain) and used to build multi-family complexes on that same space. The right sees that as "immigrants are taking my property" since most of those land parcels are owned by conservative leaning people. Economy: Trump gave tax breaks to middle class. Even if you don't believe it, I've seen it on my own tax returns. Now with inflation being so bad, they want someone who has addressed that previously to fix it again. Both sides make the argument "devil you know" or "lesser of two evils" - from their perspective. So yeah, I get it. I don't condone it, but I get it. Address those issues, and the democrats would get more support/votes.
As a non-fan, non-supporter of Donald Trump, I don’t have much left after discovering a disturbing number of my fellow Americans prefer fascism to libertyI'm not a fan of Trump either, and didn't vote for him. However one thing I learned post-election is: I understand why people voted for him. People aren't voting for fascism, they are voting for someone who "gets" them. He's promising to (or depending on how you look at it, has delivered on) fixing the issues that his demographic relate to: economy, immigration. The democrats, nor most of the media, don't get that. They never have, and that's the problem. The people went to someone who understands them (or at least appears to). They don't see (or care) about the rampant corruption his administration brings, they just see the results (or dream) he's promised them. That's good enough for them.
I've never played Warcraft, nor owned them. I was more into Starcraft. However I purchased the bundle on GoG when I read the announcement. Will I ever play them? I don't know, but I wanted to support their preservation efforts.
Reddit needs to have a counter-notice policy, like Valve does, so commenters have a way to fight back against DMCA abuse.
To clarify, I didn't mean that was their rhetoric, I meant that what they're trying to push to everyone is to, rightfully, proceed with the peaceful transition of power.
that this is all business as usual and there’s nothing to see here.Probably part of their rhetoric of "peaceful transition of power." If the democrats say anything against the other side, they'll (or at least fear they'll) be called out as hypocrites (real or perceived).
When I read the title, I was like "oh no, what did Katy do?" I'm actually quite surprised that Katie is the one that started this, and Katy was actually trying to work out a deal. Usually it's the bigger one stepping on the little one.
Right? It's like the AT&T v Broadcom case. I don't like either of them... but one of them is clearly right.
Republicans in congress are traitors and should be treated as such. They actually have the power to stop this, and refuse.
