i understand copyright is dead in a digital society, but I'd appreciate if I can keep track of visitors of my own content. google keeps this metadata (central to its business model), but it doesn't share. that's unfair.

I wrote a list of Apps I want on my iPhone, and yes, a nice twitter app interface - where direct and @username messages interface mimics the SMS - and we have global and cheap SMS...
with history, with tracking, with message confirmation, etc.

You're assuming the scope of the work is set in stone, as in "do what needs to be done". that's rarely the case.
in fact, the scope and priorities are constantly shifting, and if you don't set a metric, that means you'll be forced to renegotiate at every turn.
When I charge per hour, I make clear my client pays for his indecision, not me.
Re: interruptions, turn it off and buckle down. It's the correct thing to do, when you're working on the clock.

DRM is always a service
DRM is a service disguised as a product.
Since it's paid upfront, the provider has no incentives to make the service better.
