  Gotta burn those subversive books. Now with digital equivalents. I'm kind of horrified how the Trump dictatorship is dismantling the US so fast. The Republicans prepared the SCOTUS for years while Democrats played by the rules believing the GOP would respect said rules when it mattered instead of reining in the executive powers and making the electoral system something less of a joke when they had the chance.

  It's interesting to see a country devolving into a dictatorship in real time, sad but interesting. We are seeing the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda being reenacted in real time answering the often asked questions of "How the heck Germans allowed this to happen?". Sure there are other dictatorships around the world all the time but the US is the most televised case ever. Being in a very important position economically and culturally speaking amplifies the information coming out from those who are not swallowing this shit and are resisting. I'm fairly sure Germany had people who fought against it and lost. I hope the good USians don't.

  Trump doesn't care with the most important law in the US, the Constitution, why would he care about states laws? And he can always take it to the corrupt SCOTUS to shot it down based on secret reasoning. Now, the states themselves can and should stand up to this bullshit. It's a union. And nobody is forced to be part of it if the head is a corrupt gangster.

  The very existence of billionaires is a threat not only to democracy but to humanity itself. It's crystal clear they'll run over whoever and whatever is in the way of their massive and fragile egos including but not limited to the planet and our existence. And because of centuries of slavery and general bigotry fueled mainly by european white people there's a whole freaking lot of money concentrated in the hands of despicable white bigots. This is a symptom of a very aggressive cancer that's killing humanity.

  When your speech only result is violence and death... The door has been shattered already. I don't think I'd kill anyone for their murderous speech alone but I find it hard to find any pity for those who find their demise because of it. I am thankful the Constitution of my country doesn't allow this kind of speech. And while it can be used in nefarious ways at the very least we are actually better than the US on many fronts because of it. And the ones that attempted a coup are actually being punished.

  Stephen, I like you, I really do. And I admire your position and I actually agree that this probably doesn't work. More than that I believe you despise this Kirk idiot. But I think the fracture is already there and it's not fixable. That's where your point fails.

  Yes. Because if he had the chance he would kill a trans child. None of us would kill anybody for being different, for existing differently. He would. His audience would. Or will. Fascist lives don't matter. All the others who could disagree but would never make any existence impossible and would never kill anyone different do matter. That's the paradox of tolerance.

  I'm actually surprised people haven't started shooting masked or unidentified ICE agents with the excuse they can't know if it's a criminal impersonating law enforcement. This is bad given how much "AI" gets these stuff wrong and it could implicate innocent people if a thorough investigation isn't done to confirm the person pointed out by the "AI" is not actually working for the ICE. But the escalation will only get worse if legislators and the courts don't grow spines and stop the orange baboon and his pet monkeys. And nothing indicates spines are in the process of being grown.

  I mostly agree with you. But I think the point of no return will be crossed (or has been) before all non-violent routes are tried or blocked. The fascists have already started to use it. They are using it via the weaponization of ICE and more concretely by the assassination of two Democrats. Violent speech is already killing hundreds, thousands around the world by inspiring vile people into action. Kirk's death is just a good excuse to the fascists, bigots to intensify what they are already doing. I say good riddance. And I hope it's just the beginning of a broader movement against these types. It's past time the ones on the receiving end of their violence gave them their own medicine. I'm done with taking the moral high ground and seeing people die by the hands of these despicable pieces of turd, directly or indirectly. I've seen two people from my closer circle die because of these people, one indirectly and the other one directly. Fuck them all.

  It is abundantly clear this administration doesn't care about freedom or the Constitution unless it's for their own benefit. What boggles my mind is that Trump is repeatedly deploying military force against Americans and nothing is happening. The strategy is clear as day and it's pretty much illegal in any conceivable way. And nothing is happening. It seems that by the time Democrats wake up they'll already be in torture chambers inside concentration camps.

  One can hope the mid-terms are a (real) landslide to the democrats (and ppl elect those with spines). The corruption is very blatant and visible and yet almost nobody with power to contain this administration is doing anything meaningful to stop it. Considering mid-terms will actually happen without blatant interference. The GOP is not hiding the will to perpetuate themselves in power. It's a rotten political party that should have their registry revoked and be completely banned from politics after what they are doing. But then again, how do you do that in a dysfunctional two-party system?
