  I also wonder if the studies examined how effective the bans were. Were the students really unable to use phones at the times they were supposed to be? Was it only the rule following students (most like to do well in school already) who didn't use their phones in class?

  Not recognizing that there is no way the US can allow that to be run by foreign interests is extremely naive in my mind.

  The question is, would it even help? Is Russia able to influence the US public despite not owning a major American social media network? If so, what hope is there that divestiture of TikTok will hobble China's ability to do so?

  Just make the penalties for the crime just harsher.

  A simple solution that doesn't solve the problem. Making it more likely to get caught works; increasing the penalty for getting caught doesn't.

  Anyone who says Biden is just as bad as Trump is either an abject moron or intentionally spreading disinformation. As for the story, these rules sound like not net neutrality, even if it's an improvement.

  It’s no less racist to do it just because he’s white.

  Telling someone who is not from Africa to go "back" to Africa because they're black is inherently racist. Telling someone to go back to a country or continent they actually immigrated from may or may not be racist. In this case it is not because the motivation is not based on Elon's race, but on the things he does and says. It's also because "go back to Africa" is the sort of thing a lot of his admirers would say, so it's a bit of petard hoisting.
