  Hrmm a public admission of something that could very well be against the law. Sure he didn't come out and say "We paid you money, now make our laws happen" but he suggested that pretty strongly. Wonder how long it will take before the FBI/SS begins investigation?

  They may not be able to take down ThePirateBay.org but what they can do is send notices to PayPal, VISA et all telling them that the site is infringing and get their donation payment processes and ad funding cut off.

  I'm waiting for SOPA to pass and then a whole lot of sites of groups that supported it to disappear off the net. Just because Google runs the biggest search engine on the net doesn't mean that they HAVE to display your company in the results. After all, they have been screaming at Google because Google allows certain terms to come to the top and they need to correct that, Google can very well do that to the likes of Sony.com or SenatorLamarSmith.gov also what with them being a private company and all.

  Thats the thing though. In order for the religious leader to even know about the tweets she has to 'follow' his tweet.. she has to be proactive and go out and find the material. With a threatening letter, phone call or e-mail it comes to her without her violation. The judge pointed that out in the ruling.

  Well, they may not have the rights to any of the articles they brought people to court over they do have the rights to their story. I'm sure a halfway decent screenwriter could make a movie to rival that of even the greatest Greek Tragedy! I bet they could even make their $100M in sunk costs back on it. *nods knowingly*

  So even if the SCOTUS declares parts of it as unconstitutional.. will they only excise those parts are will they kill the ENTIRE bill so that none of it gets implemented?

  If they would have had anything to hang Dajaz1 with, they would have gone to trial. Therefore they had no probable cause much less evidence of wrongdoing beyond the RIAA representative saying "Yup. They are infringing!".

  I'd say that the fact that the government dropped the case after having a full calendar year to build the case speaks for that. Hell, they did't even have the other lawyer horning in on things making it difficult for them by filing motion after motion in opposition to them.
