Rather than viewing it as a negative, how about the fact that the judge took it quite seriously and made a major effort to address what was presented before him.
Good post Joshua. Although its secondary to the argument of the article, you bring up a very important issue.
I consider myself a centrist but even the most damaged idiot can see that its the left that is pushing for sensationalistic crap
should a person buying a Hardback book have to be "informed"?
I've dealt with enough DRM in various media to realize that the only reason management includes it is to placate moronic shareholders who think DRM actually discourages pirating. Any upper level suit whose been in the field long enough knows its futile. Even more futile is arguing the morality/ethics of piracy. Whether you believe its proper or not, its a fact of life that isn't going away no matter how angry "honest" folks get. In the end, the ONLY people who are effected by DRM are the people who bought the product honestly. The only alternative is to make sure those that DO pay are well rewarded for paying for a legit copy.
While I do agree with most of the statements in the piece, I believe the "no fly" list is a bit of a cheap shot. They would be crucified if an individual on said list committed an act of terrorism if the person was allowed on-board. Put them on the list and they do nothing and the list is used as a moral bludgeon.
if one is going to argue these issues, at least try to be fair. The truth is disturbing enough without having to embellish the bullet points.
PayPal is getting a bit too powerful for their own good. I make a point to use alternative services whenever possible.
NO ONE, bands or management are guaranteed the amount of money they "used to" get. get over it. The spiritual value of music is as much as its ever been, the monetary value is near zero....sorry! You can either NOT release your product or you can play by the rules of the people who consume it.
Doesn't it suck to be at the mercy of a large group of individuals who are acting in their own self-interest? Enjoy, because it's YOUR turn now.
I use Google news. If I hit a site for a story and come up against a paywall, I still have several hundred other alternatives to read said news stories. The majority of people who insist on one specific news site are going to die of old age within 10 years anyway. Fuck 'em.
I respect the hell out of most LE officers but at some point they forgot who they are working for.
Being a sci-fi lit fan AND a human being this made me well up.
Whenever I'm on the precipice of disowning my fellow humans something like this happens.
God, cancer is so unfair.
This is a guy who prides himself on his economics degree (Duff).
Duff should be taken out for danish a-la "Morey" from Goodfellas. "You sit in the front seat Duff"
just gave the site a cursory glance.....looks like a meathead/jock/fratboy braintrust clearinghouse. "Nik Ritchie" and "The Dirty Army". Sounds like a Zoo Radio bit.
Some day, in the not too distant future, the majority of people will actually understand how the internet and its various technologies work.
For you, that day is NOT today.
This just in, Mickey Rooney supports reforms in the Bill.
Much will be accomplished, I'm sure.
Michael, just to drop a quick note of appreciation for your piece here on the site each evening. Its one of the few things I look forward to after the daily burnout of politics and vapid "entertainment" news on many mainstream sites.
Carry on ;)

Mike has finally gone apoplectic.
About time. Let loose with some 4-letter words Mike. They deserve it.
Imagine how wonderful it would be if Hollywood, instead of imprisoning this woman, used her obvious genius at media distribution, as an administrator for a site that would finally bring the entertainment industry into the 2st century. She's obviously very savvy as to what folks want, their viewing habits, tastes as well as her social awareness.
Unfortunately this point of light will be locked away in a dungeon for 22 months, her sentence satisfying only the empty suits whose jobs became redundant years ago and who are now strangling the entertainment industry in their bid to stay relevant. Sad.
The Fiero....ugh.
I drove several when they had first come out. I can't remember a more cheap feeling vehicle outside of the Dodge Omni/Charger 2+2 family at the time (The special edition Shelby's were high comedy....several interior trim pieces vibrated off including the rear view mirror). Compare the similar Toyota MR2 during that period and its night and day. Tight, solid, nimble and fun. Fiero was none of these things. There isn't a better example of why the American car industry ended up a sad joke that is just now starting to get its head out of its ass.
Re: Re: Re:
Personally I would love to take attorneys (from ALL areas of specialization) and burn them to death on live TV.
If things keep going the way they are, you'll see that and more. Next time OWS happens, it wont be passive hipsters and dead heads, its going to be working class and lower white collar people dragging shitbags onto the streets and beating them to death. LOL at legislation.
