And yet you won’t feel the touch of a woman.
If KOSA becomes law.
Look, it’s easy to look at what’s happening on the internet and think that’s the trajectory will inevitably lead to cataclysm. Destined to be enshitted, as people around here say. But the truth is that there is nothing set in stone. KOSA was believed to be rushed to the finish line, and yet we were able to beat it back, despite the overwhelming support it had. The internet never dies, it merely changes, for better and for worse.
“Calm down, get a hold of yourself.”
I think you’re replying to the wrong person. But I agree with the sentiment.
If I touch Trump, would he instantaneously combust considering how thin-skinned he is?
Well that’s quite a pisstake.
That and ten other democrats. But I suppose that’s better than nothing.
Look, this treaty is going to cause a lot of damage, there’s no reason around it. But I think we’re skipping to conclusions regarding the US’s actual implementation. Doesn’t the treaty still need to be voted by the US senate after the UN treaty is ratified, which requires a 2/3 vote to pass? It’s one thing for the US government to support the treaty, but it’s another for the US to actually vote it into use. Support doesn’t always mean immediate implementation.
Nor is dismissing efforts to stop a censorious bill as a lost cause and calling the curation of various melodramatic doomer posts as censorship.
Good point. But at least you and I agree that he is one of the fakest, most frustrating politicians in the government today.
People like Bluthmenthal make me very embarrassed to be a Democrat. What I find really gross and irredeemable is how Bluthmenthal uses the actual tragic cases of children dying whether it be of severe bullying/mental health issues and rope their grieving parents into thinking that his bill would avenge these kids. That he thinks that a maximalist approach to taking down “Big Tech” would magically make things hunky dory. Only his ideas can make change. Only he thinks of the children. It’s just so gross to turn these tragic stories and make them ammo for his self-grandiose wankfest, something that won’t help anyone and would very likely make the problems worse (much like FOSTA). Why find solutions to problems when you make problems to make your solutions seem more appealing.
I am genuinely convinced that Bluthmenthal is not actually a democrat. He has rarely worked with his constituents on the Democratic Party, he constantly works with people that are far-right or are problematic (ie Elon Musk, NCOSE [Morality in Media], Blackburn, etc.), and he never thinks of the consequences that will affect other people. I’m not even convinced that he’s human. I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned out to be this robot built by the Heritage Foundation to be what they think democrats are. All I’m saying is please someone competent and actually understand the internet primary this embarrassment in the upcoming midterms. The less DINOs the better.
No, sadly we’re talking about next week.
In regards.
If you go into a fight expecting to lose, you’re going to lose. Much like Carr, Ferguson’s actual political power is limited and reeks of over-exaggerations just to get in the good graces of Trump. And the actions he does propose doesn’t mean that there will be no pushback. So please, get out of your fetal position and find silver linings in life.
Brendon Carr: “Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle shall be legendary!”
Here’s one positive. When a bill is introduced under one previous administration/session, that bill has to go through those very same steps again to pass under a different administration/session. As in it has to be introduced again, go through the judiciary again, mark-ups, etc. Grant it, that doesn’t determine whether or not KOSA will maintain that momentum next year. But we get there when we get there.
I did hear that something like that was coming by the end of the year. But honestly, the whole thing has been done in the dark lately. Even a date hasn’t been announced. While Biden (and possibly Trump) have indicated that they support the Treaty (flaws and all), I highly doubt that the United States would actually implement the Cybercrime treaty. For one, it requires a 2/3 of the Senate to actively pass the measure, an uphill battle made even harder by the measure’s controversial language and a small group of Democrat senators have already indicated their opposition. If the measure fails in the US, it’s a huge blow to the Treaty.
Ahhh so Bluthmenthal’s steps to reintroduce the Kids Online Safety Act are: -Step 1. Shoot yourself in the foot. -Step 2. …
