  Don't get too excited. Airlines have always done this. It's nothing new or scandalous, it's just the way that wrecks are processed. Once the wreck starts being transferred from one party to another (almost immediately), the logo is gone. The actual wreckage could hang around the airport for years. Eventually the wreckage is no longer controlled by Thai Airways, so the logo is gone.
  
  The reason the the media is getting so excited is that plane crashes used to be a regular event, so nobody paid any attention to the logos being painted over. Nowadays, plane crashes are extremely rare, so painting over the logo has become a spectacular non-event.

  Then there are those of us outside the USA who are quite content to store our data in the US rather than in our home countries. We're quite pleased to have the NSA scouring our data for links to Yemen or Iran. Saves me a lot of worry, and I trust the NSA more than my own government.

  Did I say it was "meaningful"? No, I said it was "EVIDENCE". Even a tiny bit of evidence should be enough to activate at least a spark of curiosity in one's little brain.

  There's evidence all over the place. Compare NY to Chicago, for example: From the NY Times, writing about the 1st week in July in Chicago: "65 shootings across the city . . . sixteen people were killed . . ." That's about 3x the NY numbers. It's evidence of something happening. Try comparing a few more cities.
