Um, Turkey is a secular country. What you just said could very well apply to the U.S. as well. We've got politicians trying to integrate law and religion as well, we just veil it under the more precarious abortion debate.
Won't make a big difference - the rest of the EU filters the Internet too - how about Germany's ban on Holocaust denial sites? Forget the difference in subject matter, clearly the EU isn't all that big on freedom of speech.
