Not sure how this minimum wage economy is supposed to work …Just so you know, the minimum wage in New York State is $15 ($16 in NYC, Long Island, and Westchester County) and increases every year, adjusting to inflation. That's how it should be, IMHO. Source: https://dol.ny.gov/minimum-wage-0
Thought 1: It's been only ten years since John Oliver's interview with Keith Alexander? Time sure flies… Thought 2: The sense of entitlement of the News industry led to the abominable link taxes around the world. The recording industry got back on its feet thanks to streaming and–unlike the film/video industry, didn't exclusively make their product available on only one service nor make DRM-free purchases unavailable. As you can see now, the Music Recording Industry is in the black whilst the Video/Film industry has faced an uptick of piracy.
You know the cliche “if you’re not paying for the product then you are the product.” By this reasoning, consumers are subsidizing businesses by allowing businesses to harvest their data.I pay for Disney, Netflix, Paramount+, etc. and they still harvest my data. Hell, I can see the statistics on the backends of bandcamp and my streaming services with CDBaby. Yet all those cost $$$. I would say that cliché is wrong.
Trump's incoherence and hypocrisy is a "dog-bites-man" story. Trump's only principle is "What's good for Donald John Trump at this moment in time, right now?"
Similar to how Nintendo archives all their original data, code, and tools (as revealed by the gigaleak): not for our benefit, but for theirs.
And sometimes the copyright of the originals is in such a tangled web that official remakes or remasters are unpossible. See: No One Lives Forever, The Simpsons: Hit and Run, etc.
I was going to say "New York City doesn't really have any gangs anymore" but then I realized I was wrong because you were talking about the NYPD.
We can’t just let the poors travel!Telling by my daily commutes, they already are.
How to plausibly deny your own racism if you're white 101: Don't use the N-word. Apparently Dustin Boone got an F in that course…
The Conservative (or rather, the ultra-reactionary) wing of the US Supreme Court has to ruin everything, just like they did for [insert issue here].
There's a dictum in Law Enforcement:
You can beat the rap, but you can't beat the ride.Mr. Lacey has beaten the rap, but at this point, the victory seems Pyrrhic AF.
You're a homo[phone with your].
Wow, I got #2 for insightful! Thanks, TechDirt community! Although I would say that T.L. corrected me and I admitted I could be wrong there. I mean, I'm no lawyer…
…aaaaand it's back!
Not to mention that there was actually a cake, so it was no lie!
Or a Pepperidge Farm sandwich cookie.
Hmph. Maybe I'm wrong.
I would say the TikTok ban is not only unconstitutional on First Amendment grounds, but that it's also a Bill of Attainder: It punishes a [corporate] person through congress without a trial.
...and Universal just sicced a copyright claim on the video. This is why we can't have nice things.
I took a second look and now I see it, there's an extra "i" between "in" and "sightful".
