    Which are questionable at best. My question is why the hell are the Immigration and Customs folk getting involved in this when it's clearly not and immigration or customs issue?

    The foreign websites thing will last about a week, just long enough for the content industry to say -See we told you it would just be the foreign sites-.

    All the shills here keep saying the same thing over and over.....It's the law.....and there have never in the history of this country been absolute shit laws written right?

    I'm all for paying. If the price is reasonable for the content I'm getting....sure I'll pay, no problem. When I'm told that I can't get HBO go so I can watch the two shows I want to watch that they offer because I don't subscribe through a pay TV service that's just stupid...they have someone who's willing to PAY for their content directly and won't do it....that's a business model problem, full stop.

    Just because it's the law does not ever meant it's a good one.

    If you posted in this manner every time or even most of the time you might not catch so much hell from the other posters here on TD, myself included sometimes.

    I find it refreshing to see you post this way. please keep it up and maybe we here can have some actual thoughtful discussions that don't fall to petty 3rd grade name calling and other such bullshit.

    Ask anyone here in comments or in your daily life. Any of us who've served in this countries military forces will tell you. We ALL swore the same oath that we would "defend and protect the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic...".

    I took that oath 20yrs ago and am no longer in the Marine Corps but I would still to this day defend your right to say what you want, when you want to whomever you want, even if you're being a retard about it.

    I haven't read into how Google writes their policies, so I won't comment on most of the points in your article.

    The one point of it I will comment on is the bit in there where you're talking about lock in. The Android platform most certainly NOT locking all customers into using Google search, as proven by Verizon using Bing search on the middle and lower tier Android phones almost from the beginning, and also not allowing you to choose to use another engine (may have changed since last time I looked).

    The only VZN Android phones to use Google search by default were and I believe still are the "Droid" line of phones, and or any one of them using stock Android.

    In regards to your point of copyright's in your post I have to agree. They should be lessened not extended. The culture of the planet and society as a whole should come before a small group of businesses. Copyrights should be there but for a definite, SHORT period of time.

    The rest of your post I have a couple suggestions for your idea.
    We'll call it Socialism or maybe Communism. Hell look at the Soviet Union. They were all had the same amount of wealth and all had the same amount of pow........oh wait....never mind.

    Wealth and power are NEVER distributed equally, even in societies that claim to be set up that way.

    I'm all for helping others when they need it to get back on their feet. But supporting them indefinitely is not sustainable. Just look at the welfare system here in the States. When you see second and third generation welfare families, the system is broken.

    Sorry all, for the rant not part of the subject discussion. Had to be said.

    But what about......

    Just suppose someone has to pay these asshats a whole shit-ton of cash for a patent that has this "presumption of validity". Then come to find out that the patent in question is still declared shit by PTO, does NTP then have to give the money back? What about any other damages (court fees and lawyer fees and whatnot?) Most likely no right?
    So they win....later comes out they're full of shit (so technically they lose), but they still come out ahead?

    That works.

    The point which you've obviously missed again...is not that patents can and do stifle innovation.

    It is however a question of, if two different people can come up with the same thing without seeing or knowing what the other is doing, why should one of them be given a patent on it, thus being able to stop the other from implementing their idea?

    In THAT sense, patents can and DO stifle innovation.

    It's NOT that tough to get.

    ...to abolish software patents, IMHO.

    I've said here before and I'll say it again now, software patents should not be recognized under US law. Only copyright should cover software (the exact coding of the software in question).

    No patents should be granted for something that can be achieved by two or more separate people using different software languages. If it's also something that was going to naturally come to pass, just by the natural progression of technology, it should also never receive a patent.

    It's good to see.......

    ....but I'm sure as said above that this will push the money to their opponents come re-election time. The decision by the USSC to allow corporations to donate money to a campaign is one of many devices of late killing the country.

    This third party liability campaign of the industries has to be quashed. I'm sure it won't be but it should be or there goes just one more liberty U.S. citizens have to the corporate machine.

    I say it's time to get rid of all of them. It seems that they have forgotten that they are our employees. It's time to remind them. Fire all of them come next election cycle, warning to those who replace them. They follow the same path, they're next.

    Damn I hate ranting, must have spent too much time offshore this time.

    I believe you're getting the point that others are putting out there but on this one thing, you're wrong.

    The Coast Guard and the Secret Service, although part of DHS, would not in any way be dissolved if DHS was torn down.
    They would simply fall back to where they came from, or not. They could just exist.
    DHS should have never been implemented anyway.
