The self drive car will be the END of personal car ownership for most people. Instead you will just have fleets of self drive taxis that are much cheaper than owning your own car or using a taxi. Thin street car, but that can move its self about to where it needed, when its needed.
It should be the taxi and bus companies that are fighting this. The automaker industry will benefit from a high turnover of a few regular models, even if the overall market for cars will shrink dramatically.
In the EU you have rights to return the game for a full refund if you are unsatisfied or if its faulty. With anything bought at a distance (over the web) that's extended to a full 30 days for all non perishable goods.

A typical phase 3 is $60+ to $100 million to run on its own for a single compound. So 15 years or so after you spent all that money trying to develop a drug you can finally sell it. Well that?s if your company lucky enough to get a single compound though the system.
So what if pharma companies want a return for risking so much so such a long time. It?s a high risk investment. More risky than investing in Greece government bonds at the moment.
To then only have at best 5 years to sell the new drug at a reasonable profit before it is out of pattern is quite frankly ridiculous when music (which let?s face a single person nocks up in a few days) is in pattern for so much longer.
So china and India want to stop new compounds being created because their poor cannot afford to pay for the latest drugs. If you want to put it in terms of lives saved then more are saved by the continued development of new compounds than would be saved by offering all new drugs available now at generic costs with the inevitable reduction of new research cause by the loss of new drugs high price sales.
Want my proof, look at AstraZeneca who since huge amounts of their current drugs are all coming off pattern are in an financial hole and are having to cut R&D by the site (1000s of researchers at a time).
So my message is it really is exceedingly expensive to develop a new drug. Like Apollo costs each time.

OK So you want EXTREMELY highly regulated drug development with STRICT pre clinical, clinical and follow up studies. You want treatments and cures that are better with less side effects, or just any treatments for the currently untreatable.
Well all that takes BILLIONS, one company I know well has 1000 highly qualified and well paid staff for over 10 years and currently only one drug on the market.
Drug development is the most expensive development in the world, its not some guy with a guitar and some bad lyrics or even a film studio, drug development makes block buster budgets look like peanuts.
Respects where its due, and guess what, people want returns on their extremely risky ventures and they had better be good returns.
Much easier is for the profs and students to use the research and set up a small company, spin it off from the University and go from there. This is extremely common with Cambridge University, I work for a small company spun off from the psyc department and my wife works for what is now an Astrazeneca owned company that was spun off from the biosciences. Nottingham University also does this and has a department in the business school that is dedicated to setting up research based spin off companies.
That's fine when its a simple bag that is easily designed and remade. The issue comes when something like scientific software that is based upon vast amounts of expensive research and development to create a system that is proven is then ripped off and resold by others...

Mobile phone would not have taken off as well unless they were ALL forced to use the same frequency ranges for a country (mainly just 4 close slices across the globe). Imagine how much each phone would have been if they had to work across a much wider range of frequencies or if there had to be one phone for each frequency range used. It took ages before even dual band phones came out, let lone quad and above receivers.
As for A Free for All. Year great some kid with a broadcaster can then wipe out any coms systems from military to cell phones legally -- battle of who has the strongest transmitter.
In the UK the regulator is switching off the analogy spectrum, squeezing the digital spectrum and then leasing out any spare to whoever pays the most and if they don't use it they can take it back.
Some things you just need big gov to handle and spectrum is one of them.

I'm with TalkTalk and I can get my full speed (a whopping 4mbit that's to the limits of the BT exchange my town is on) But still I get this at any time day or night with torrents, no shaping no . If you want shaping go to virgin, BT etc etc...
I suggest you go away get Utorrent, get your Firewall set up right and try again with a descent none public tracker (and so descent piers) - Oh and scan your PC for mailware...

Any politician woudl deney all the above happens - all except in England where ours just get causght and shrug it off...
