there are SD card sized adaptors which take a µSD card (of appropriate size; few seem to take larger than 32GB) and act both as an adaptor for the purposes of the camera, and a Wifi access point for external access to the images.
By using such a card, you can hand over your camera and allow them to "erase" the images from the device, having safely copied them to (say) a pi based device that then uplinks them to the internet....
Works in the exchange for an hour, goes out to their van twice for tools and parts, then phones the customer and says "I am at the exchange and can't see anything wrong".....

No no, this is setting the scene
for RESPONSIBLE house locks - which are really secure against criminals, but the FBI can get in easily without needing the key.
I am sure those smart people in the lock industry could do that if they nerded harder, they are just being stubborn.
