I think Smith, Hamilton and Blue_Balls are going berserk. And apparently hang on my every work, for some stupid reason. (or a good reason - paid astroturfing.)
Oh, it takes more than one flag. I suspect that it doesn't take as many flags to knock an AC however, since there are a few AC's that decide to post "Buh copyright good, pirate bad" 50 times and those get flushed quickly.
Stands for Internet Service Police, and therefore all mail (physical or electronic) should be stopped and vetted before being delivered, duh.
Stopping the potential infringement of billionaires movies is far far more important that you rights to privacy or secure communications. Corporations own copyrights, so they can inspect your uploads at will, right?
Mass censorship of this scale would be impressive. Not exactly brilliant. Such harsh penalties on vicarious or contributory infringement would need mandatory filters, and would chill all speech.
But you aren't being paid to acknowledge that, eh mate?
Hey, if they can hold a patent on keyboards why can't they own messenger services too?

Based on this article, I don't think it would be out of line to say that Di Franco is an asshole in my opinion.
I'd be nice if we could blame evil spirits for this kind of shit. They are so handy - when everything is just shitty, it's so important to pin the blame.
We are just hard wired. We have to point our fingers and pick someone to take the heat.
Blaming Youtube and Twitter often seems like trying to pin the guilt on evil spirits. We can't quite explain why they are at fault - but dammit, they are involved.
Not that there isn't plenty they do wrong. Especially that privacy dumpster fire Facebook. But blaming them for spreading rumors is like blaming the post office for chain letters, or mailfraud.
I have to agree with first AC- basement dolphin onsie guy is definitely more trustworthy then comcast. While it's fun to hate on Comcast, you are missing the point. Onsie Guy is (could be) selling your data to Comcast and Sprint and hackers.
Well opposition to 230 is certainly getting louder. Still incoherent, however.
If he is only using the VPN to get home, he really isn't even in the market for a VPN service at all and kinda off topic.
So if the US government gained ownership of the trademark, wouldn't they be required to display it on their jackets? Because if you don't use a trademark, you can't claim ownership of it, right? (IANAL, obviously.)
Shouldn't that be incompetencies, unless nickel and dimeing consumers is a competency? I think that is the gist of it.
Because he sees the Cheeto doing it on a daily basis and his supporters cheer him on instead of fact checking. So it must work, right?
Is it because Chicago refuses to embrace catsup? It is, isn't it.
That is an anecdotal example that does not reflect the broader DSL rollout. I had one of the first DSL setups in the East Bay and it worked like a champ.
Working in IT, I was able to see many DSL rollouts and they went much better than the esteemed Mr. Pournelle described.
So does anyone really think that extending copyright to Life + 70 years is going to make more works available? Or that this is just a bullshit excuse to keep anything topical out of the public domain?
"Johnny, it's been many generations - but you may now creative derivative works of Star Wars without fear. As long as they don't use characters introduced in the prequel or later - you will have to pass that task to your sons."
My home theater is much nicer than driving downtown, no asshats with cellphones, a bathroom, better food and a pause button. (Also, beer.)
Perhaps Hollywood should stop trying to justify the "Theatre Experience" as some sacred cow.
Get over it - the "Big Screen" is not integral to the picture.
Prosecutors seemed particularly interested in the potential for collateral damage in some of Assange’s leaks.
Perhaps prosecutors should be more interested in the actual misdeeds and possible war crimes that were leaked?
It's a wake up call to finance reform when hedge funds can burden these companies with massive debt and then walk away with the money.
Is this how capitalism is supposed to work? Maybe we need to push out an update that blocks these shenanigans. (Or would that be "government interference in the free market"?)
Re: Re: Re: Re: Spirits
In Carlin's later years he may have gone off the rails - but everyone quotes him from his earlier rants. So what does that mean? He spoke for the common person and their fears.
