WB just announced sales where at an all time high. They are now imposing a limit on the numbers of copies a person can buy. For fear that all those darn sales might result in a copy being rented.
Furthermore only the top one percent are allowed to view their movies. Those that can purchase not rent a movie.
Another worry is that a demand for toys and other promotional products might increase if you watch their movies.
The story is a bit worse for two reasons. The Democrats on the subcommittee forced a vote right then and there that any rules being enforced to remove him be waived. However they where voted down by the higher number of Republicans on that committee. (not taking party sides I'm just saying) Also he had indeed properly applied for and did the proper paperwork to be allowed. However the chairs staff kept going back and forth saying he was approved then maybe not etc...
In a interview today Fox who was removed claims the results of the scientific studies are being skewed via a manipulation and appointment of favorable scientists by this same committee.
Imagine if the patent system worked like this....Dear patent Troll it's amazing how much your patent looks like something seen on episode xy of Star Trek glad to see you had time and money to patent it. Too bad you never actually figured out how to build it nor sold or intend to sell XY product.....meanwhile I've been in a cave for the past ten years surviving on a diet of Red Bull and Cheetos. I had no social life and still wish to meet a girl someday. Amazing how you showed up out of no where...only after my parents sold there house to help pay for the first run of my X product and only after my sister slept with a producer on Oprah to get it featured on her show. If only my inheritance from my grandparents death that was spent on doing a patent search had discovered your patent. It would have saved me nine and a half years of making the damn thing work.
P.S. One question why did you change your patent to appear more like my invention only after mine went to market???
Microsoft overcame this problem by assuming everyone was legit unless proven otherwise. Basically meaning if it cannot connect to the server for any reason you can still use the said program. But once upon connecting and authentication fails then your deemed unworthy. What this also means is if someday they don't want to enforce or decide to shutdown the authentication server no one is cutoff.
