It is comforting that there is this reaction to Apple's encryption system. Seems it is highly resistant to prying eyes. Most important it encrypted all the way through which means there is no clear text or voice in the server's hands that can be read with only a subpoena.
Intercepting US mail and reading it requires a court order. The public should expect no less for private phone conversations. Unfortunately official snoopers consider all communications their business even without probable cause. Justice prevails.
There is no question Comcast is among the worst in customer service.
I won't go into my details other than I shifted my TV service to Direct TV (excellent customer service) and my internet to my phone company (DSL - slower, but far, far more reliable).
There was a website comcastmustdie.com , it may still be active. It had hundreds of cases just like the one above. Apparently Comcast got wind of it and picked two posters, one in NYC and the other in DC. With these two they played very nice, then contacted the NY Times and the Washington Post with their stories. Both papers ran glowing pieces on their experiences. The glow wore off shortly after as Comcast reverted to form.
The cable companies are losing market share to the phone companies. By and large they are giving a better product, especially Verizon with their FIOS service.
When I first heard Direct TV was dropping the Weather Channel, I quickly flipped to channel 362, just two clicks away from Fox News. But it was still there (so I thought) with colorful graphics and eye catching presenters. Later I saw a logo that wasn't Weather Channel, it was Weather Nation.
What chutzpa the Weather Channel has to claim we are in earthly danger by not being able to see their version of the weather. They are trying to get congressional legislation to save their tails. In reality the networks and the cable channels should be the ones paying the cable and satellite providers to carry their programming rather than the other way around. The cable providers got their start because of the crummy signals local TV stations were putting out.
While this article points out the deception World Kitchen is perpetrating, it will have little effect on the company. What would hurt them is if there is another competitor who makes borosilicate glass products in the US. Those who make junk will only pay the price if people buy from someone else.
I wish this article had mentioned of anyone else makes borosilcate glass products.
Police have long used their positions of authority to win in court, often when they are not telling the truth. Cameras, especially video cameras, change all of that. Cameras have become their enemy.
After operating so long with that advantage, it is hard to give it up. The videotaped Rodney King brutality was the game changer and life became far more difficult for the cop ever since. The solution, ban the camera.
With the newer cell phones, high quality video images and sound can be emailed before a cameras is seized and the content erased. So now police in some states fall back on questionable wiretapping laws to ban photographic evidence.
Hooray for the ACLU. If by chance they lose the case, the next step should be to demand every jurisdiction publish a list of unesthetic objects that can't be photographed. Including the mayor and the chief of police would make them a laughing stock. And it would cost a fortune to compile such a list.
Does this mean CBS can obtain exclusive broadcast rights for Beethoven's 5th Symphony? If I buy a broadcast license for a low wattage inner city FM station I can lock in all of Bach's works?
Wow, what license to steal!
