Yeah, but lets leave that as a last resort. The government is at least pretending to listen. We still need to boycott since the MPAA/RIAA/Whatever is still going to be pushing this, but at least the government knows our voices still mean something.
We may have won the battle, but the war is still on. Keep vigilant young soldiers for the next battle in on the horizon.
"Boycotting doesn't work--the numbers simply get tweaked to show anyone not buying the latest Big Media crap is simply pirating it."
Do it anyways. They can't survive long if no one pays them. They will go down kicking and screaming and will try to take us with them, but all we have to do is survive. If we can do that, the world will be a better place.
Do not buy, do not download, do not promote the beast. #StarveTheBeast
I agree that PR people should be able to edit Wikipedia pages, but, like some other things that I won't name, it can be abused too easily. This is why so many just say no.
I agree with setting up some system to indicate that the page was edited by a potentially bias party. An indication that could be removed when the change is approved as accurate and non-trivial.
Mind summing it up in a way that won't require me to kill my internet connection at work?
"We had a good momentum going and this strike back is just going to make things worse for internet activists."
If this is true, then we had no momentum at all. If this one action by Anonymous was able to turn the US government against what we did yesterday, then the US government was never turned our way to begin with.
Beware the dragon that lies before you, for it has awoken and does not like being poked.
I'll see you there. I'm sure they're coming after me next for making you think it.
I like how they think that deleting the tweet would do anything. They're the f**king RIAA, people are watching their twitter account 24/7. The Internet does not forget, the Internet does not forgive. Expect us.
I used MegaUpload to share my family photos with the family because my E-Mail can't support an attachment over 10m. Glad I password protected them.
People still use MegaUpload? That was so last year.
(Not to take away from the atrocity that just happened, but to highlight the futility of it.)
Wouldn't it be more logical for the EFF to ask people to call on the 23rd instead of the 24th? If they're voting on it on the 24th, wouldn't they be busy doing that instead of taking calls (or notes given to them by the intern who took the call)?
"I find it ironic"
Irony or corruption?
How big is Stumble Upon? They seem to be getting into this as well. Is anyone else getting nothing but anti SOPA/PIPA stuff?
Linked In? Come on, all those resumes are copied and slightly modified.
I think the MPAA might be splitting that hair a little thin. Yeah, so Google didn't blackout their site, but they did still join in on the protest. Lying by omission is still lying.
4chan is blacking out all text. Some of these are really creative. I really like Fark's anti-protest.
Re:
You know how you prevent that? The same way you solve every problem permanently, you get to the source. It's the MPAA and RIAA that pushed this, they need to learn that we won't take this crap. They need to be shown that we are strong.
