    I'm Not A Vindictive Guy

and I do understand that The Times like any other news source has to make money to stay alive. It's just I detest Rupert Murdoch and most of what he does. I hope he fails.

Our Government Has Gotten A Little

funny in the head. I'm not much of a traveler but if I was while this whole thing is getting itself sorted out if I wanted to take a computer across national borders I would buy one specifically for this purpose. Sure I am for fighting nutty laws, rules, and regulations, I just don't have the time or money to do it. In a case like this I would rather just slip through and call it a day. I'm not going to spend the rest of my life fighting against the statements of all these bloviating politicians who's sole purpose in life by making these statements is to create a campaign ad and by doing so it becomes the birth place of these goofy laws rules and regulations.

  • Why Is Product Placement Okay On TV Without Disclosure?

    Re: Re: Small Potatoes

I really never considered it from that point of view but I am really getting headaches avoiding all this stuff. It has reached the point for me where I am watching less and less television. This is probably good for me but it can't be what the advertisers would want. I think with my plan the advertising community and the corporations that pay their bills would have to be more careful about how they are handling this.

    Small Potatoes

I have a much bigger gripe with advertising. Given the number of programs on radio and television I have timed with a chess clock on several occasions 17 to 23 minutes of every hour are filled with nothing but bumpers, promos, and commercials. I understand that this is how these corporations pay their bills and I do believe in free speech but how about the FCC forcing these corporations to announce how much time in the next listening or viewing hour at the beginning of each hour will be spent on this annoyance. This should be made part of their licensing contract.

    There Are A Lot Of

goofy people on the internet. There are a lot of goofy people listening to these goofy people on the internet and taking them seriously. Though what this individual did may have had awful consequences I don't believe he should be kicked off the internet completely. Just listen to all the nutty corporate television and radio show hosts. Should they be tossed off television and radio? Even though I can't stand them they have a perfect right to blather on even though they sound to me as crazy a bed bugs.

Ops Not The Las Vegas Remark Again

President Obama needs to think about some of the implications that come from what he says. Rather than taking on something like this I believe it would be better for him to rather just suggest a more balanced life. This to me makes a lot more sense since people will pretty much do what they want to anyway.

That's like saying paying higher taxes will give me a stronger emotional bond with my government. What do these people do through darts at a dictionary and string the words together in the order that they were hit. The Times should have brought this idea out on April first.

    When I Began Working

it was in the mid 60s. Any company that I worked for had a philosophy of really and I know now that it is hard to believe now doing the best for their customers. Though I don't find anything wrong with it the first time that I noticed a change was many years later when these company's began keeping much longer hours and opening on Sundays. Then came the sales quotas. I just hated the sales quotas. They were just plain wrong. The sales force hated them and the customers hated them even more because they knew exactly what was happening. Well now I am retired. Good thing too. I was probably just months away from bashing my last bosses brain in with his Best Practices Paperweight. I am sure I would have gotten written up for that.

  • Finally, A Definitive Answer On Whether Cell Phones Cause Cancer — In 20 Or 30 Years

    If I Were To Guess

It was as I recall at least a decade ago I remember an article on the very same subject of cell phone safety. The article had something interesting in it that I had not seen and I don't remember seeing in any other article on the subject since. There were a couple of X-Rays taken of people heads while they were using these phones. One was of an adult. The second X-Ray was of a young child. In both X-Rays as I believe it is known by non-ionizing radiation was penetrating both skulls and the brains. The radiation penetrated the child"s skull and brain to a deeper degree as children have thinner skulls. If I were to guess I can't say how harmful this was and I know improvements have been made so I can't say how harmful this may be now if at all but I don't believe these devices contribute to good health.

Dark Helmet I may be just a bit biased as anything that I have ever gotten in my life of any financial value I have had to sue for. I admit that it is a pain in the neck but it usually works. My motto for decades has been "That's not the figure I'm thinking of".

    Sue Their Pants Off

No company can think of or prevent the ingenuity of every thief on the Internet. My feeling is if they don't take every reasonable precaution to prevent these actions by these people it should without question cost them a lot more not only in fines but restitution to the consumer. It should cost them enough so that it hurts a lot. It's the only way these people will get the message. "No More Mister Nice Guy."

  • Yet Another Paywall Experiment Fails

    Everyone Is Just

getting tired of fees for everything. Before the ongoing scandalous treatment of banks and other financial institutions of their customers become so well known there was a comedy bit about a fellow calling his bank for some information. The customer service rep. on the line asked is that a question or a statement? The fellow asked why? The rep. said because if its a statement there is no charge, but if its a question that will be two dollars. Sure the people who work for these papers need to be paid just like anyone else who works. Its just that every time I seem to turn around someone wants to charge me for something. Just one last example. If I choose to pay my electric bill over the phone to a computer mind you just for the privilege of paying my bill I am charged an extra $3.50. Oh Brother!

    Do I Need Another One?

I was just sitting around thinking as I have been prone to do a lot of since I retired several years ago. I was up early in the morning watching the CNBC financial reports and watching the show hosts on Squawk On The Street who by the way I really like a lot drooling over this new device by Apple and Steve Jobs who I am sure is a plenty clever guy but lets face it he hasn't mentioned me in his Will so I'm getting a little tired of hearing about him and all the money he has as I won't be getting any of it. Anyway I have digressed. As I look around my apartment. As for a lot of things that I own one of them would be enough, yet I have three to five of them. Yes some of them have somewhat better features but not that much better features that made it worth buying the additional two to four items as backups. I'm not just referring to computing and or computing and entertainment devices though I am including them. Of course what we do are our own personal choices but myself included maybe we should all stop and think before we rush out at the speed of light to pretty much buy just another one.

    To Show You How Old

that I am the last 3D movie that I saw was John Wayne in Hondo. In fact I think that was the first 3D movie. To be honest I thought it was pretty cool. Well I'm a lot older now and though I'm still a big money waster I have found more enjoyable ways for me to flush my money down the toilet than spending a ton of dough on a couple hour experience and giving that money to a bunch of over priced Hollywood Stars. On the other hand I might go and even spend five bucks on that box of popcorn if they would let me smoke cigarettes in the theater while I am watching the movie. Yeah, good luck with that!

    I Woudln't Buy Anything

Rupert Murdoch is selling. He in my opinion may be the most despicable living human being of my time. Thank goodness people like this man don't come along very often. The real tragedy is Murdoch's whole professional career is dedicated to stirring up people who don't know any better. It really doesn't matter to him that what most of what he is selling if it is bought will just make peoples lives a lot worse. Say Rupert How much money do you really need?

    Hard Cheese For Writers

I believe and not only that these people have to paid for their work. The problem is it seems every time I turn around I get a bill for something else. I just don't have the money to support them. I might squeeze myself just a little harder financially if I could get a channel menu of pay news online for a flat monthly fee. I think now that fee could not be higher than 12 bucks a month for me.
