I don't even look at the history posts, so I have no input on it.
I like the funniest & most insightful. If there is no editor's choice for a category, just omit it rather than trying to dig something up. The current format is fine.
There's no compelled speech here. If the website designer creates the website it's a work made for hire, and any speech involved is by the customer hiring the worker, not the worker herself.
From the context I think the teenager is a girl, the context being that the cited industry best practices are both female. Also, having been a teenage boy myself, I doubt that a boy would burst into tears, although he might well storm upstairs.
The headline should say "... Finds Her Mom Waited Up For Her."
It's not true that the next registrar must realize the copyright serves the public. The word "must" means to be obliged or bound to <do something>, to need to <do something> or to to be required or compelled to <do something>. Since the current registrar evidently does not realize that copyright serves the public, there is no necessity for the next one to do so. What you really mean by "must" is that you wholeheartedly want the next registrar to have that realization, but there is no compulsion to do so. This may appear to be nitpicky, but accuracy of language is important.
And while I'm at it, you should say that copyright should serve the pubic or that it was intended to do so, not that it in fact does. As you have pointed out, in many cases it does not.

Why plaintiff's lawyers took on the case
The author asks "why did [the plaintiff's lawyers] take the case on?" Uh ... because they got paid to do so?
What happened to the victim?
What happened to the guy whose car was hit. Were his expenses reimbursed? Was his car replaced?

Has anyone sent a letter to the editor of MIT Review? If not, please do so.
