  In the UK and most European countries most people are on PAYE tax. It's calculated by the employer and collected at source. It's simple, works, and is cheaper than trying to audit millions of basic returns.

  Well, in my tiny sample size of one, I can definitely confirm that both those things are happening. I think the end result is more likely to be greater consolidation with they big players as they can bear the costs.

  It's an increasing problem with an audio engineering site I'm a member of. Site slowdowns and page load fails are happening nearly daily; two years ago they were very rare. Unfortunately, restricting access to general knowledge seems to particularly benefit one party.

  We had the same problem in the UK during the Johnson era. The people who came up with the controls never envisaged: a) a premier who would simply lie, lie, and lie again. b) a media system that would allow this to go (effectively) unchallenged. c) a party that would abandon its morals so abjectly. d) a court system that would go along for the ride (didn't happen in the UK but has plainly done so in the US). and finally e) an electorate that would vote for that candidate anyway, despite knowing all this.

  As someone from across the pond, I can confirm I have never heard of Pepperdine but I would absolutely have assumed the connection between LA Waves and the Lakers. The brand recognition between these two organisations are simply not on the same level.

  Winning the election and becoming president is like getting a driving licence. It allows you to drive according to the rules of the road. It doesn't make anything you do in a car legal. Just because Trump is in the oval office doesn't mean he gets to ignore the law.

  Unfortunately the moment for the GOP to stand up to Trump was 4 years ago. They failed the test then and are simply the party of Trump now. It is on the democrats, the judiciary and the people now.
