TAC, I'm well aware of Pretenda's defamation suit, as I was one of the commenters listed. The problem with Roca is that they're going after something much worse than porn - sure porn causes people to pay up, but it's also why nobody takes this shit seriously.
I REALLY hope the judge upholds PissedConsumer.com's first amendment rights; this case is an obvious violation of them. People writing negative reviews about something is not defamatory in the slightest.
Wow, legacy journalism has been really bad lately. The New York Times using "he said, she said"; no fact-checking on the whole guy invented e-mail thing...
What's next? TMZ being cited as a source in a MSNBC article?
That's pushing the scope of the ad, though - they could have generic brands from grocery stores, but it would be much harder to get across the message.
Prenda Law 2: Dietary Supplement Boogaloo
Now with a surprise celebrity guest - a washed-up C-list actor from 90's TV!
Re: New term requred
Don't forget child porn!
Re: Re:
No no no - the LAWYERS benefit! Gotta pay the bills on that jacuzzi and mansion, after all.
I can't wait for all the big business to censor all similar services, regardless of their legality, because of this.
Not just 'Murica
The UK is getting more and more draconian by the day.
When will judges learn that owning a filelocker site is not infringement?!
Re: Re: Re:
It's interesting how the copywrong folks hate infringement until they could possibly be seen doing it, then they think it's a-OK.

Re:
Prenda wasn't nearly as bad as these people, IMO. They only sued over porn; these people are trying to stifle speech.
Who even does to SDCC anymore? It's all Hollywood movies and TV shows, not indie comic publishers and artists.
Would be much nicer if the court forced them to pay a fine for every false takedown...
Marc Randazza isn't the greatest lawyer in the world, but I'm glad he's on this case.

Don't forget about the lobbyists~~~

I wrote this; I forgot to log in.
Why the hell are we even letting people use drones outside of the military in the first place?

I always wondered why picturing yourself in a profile pic was not required by FB's terms of service.

Ugggggh, why NSA, why???? Spying on schoolchildren!? Blargh.
Where's the "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" people when you actually need them?
Re: I don't think it's a stretch to see why these companies are upset
