Purpose?

What’s the purpose of these laptop stands? That seems like a really awkward angle to have my wrists on when using a laptop. And it looks like the stand needs to be used on a flat horizontal surface, which is generally not where I use a laptop device.

Does anyone sell a "standing stand" for laptops that lets you hold your arms in a relaxed position while standing, type on the keyboard, and see the screen?

The ideal laptop "standing stand" is probably a musician’s sheet music stand or conductor stand . Since these stands vary considerably in weight, sturdiness, maximum height, weight-bearing ability, width of the ledge, adjustability and angle range of the backboard (up to 180 degrees), and whether the height setting is lockable or just friction-secured (and the inner shaft greasy or not). It’s well worth the effort to shop around, since many types would make a poor or unusable laptop stand, especially those with limited backboard angles.
