Even Anti-Virus Firms Wonder About Latest Mobile Malware Claim

Far from being the usual fountains of mobile-virus FUD, anti-virus firms are slightly dubious about the claims there’s a new piece of malware that can make its way from Windows PCs to Windows Mobile devices. The virus has only been mentioned by the “Mobile Antivirus Researchers Association”, and it hasn’t been very forthcoming about passing the code along to the various AV companies, or even Microsoft, so they can update their software to block it. MARA says it has a protocol for companies to follow for it to pass along code, and that the AV companies aren’t following it — but for once, it doesn’t sound like those companies are the ones trying to drum up some PR by shouting mobile virus warnings.
